Vinyl Decals for Camping Adventures

Camping is as popular as ever, and here are some super ideas for using vinyl decals to personalize your camper and your camping gear.

DIY Mini (Toy) Stove for Your Mini (Kid) Cook

Try this easy and fun DIY project for your favorite kid: this cute little toy stove. It's so easy, you can't mess this up and your child will have hours of fun "cooking." But get your fork ready, you WILL be expected to "eat" what they make!

Supplies are simple:

                a small or medium size plastic tote and lid
                vinyl decals (the stove top set) from Wall Decor Plus More 
                and a little patience

Luckily, this mini stove comes with its own storage (the tote) for all the kitchen "utensils" your child will need and want. Find some great kitchen toys at Walmart for less than $20, go through your own surplus, or check out a garage sale or thrift store.

Ready, set, go!

•      First, the LID needs to be clean and free of dust or dirt. 

•      Next, position the decals like in the youtube video (click above).

•      Voila! Your mini stove is ready for "cooking." It's so easy!

Can you sew up a kid-size apron to add to the fun? Child-size potholders or oven mitts will help your small cook make believe – sew them, knit them, crochet them, or remember potholder looms? If your kid is old enough, help them weave their own potholder!

In nice weather, this mini stove can be taken outside, to the park or the beach. Get ready to add the "ingredients" of sand, water, pebbles, and sticks. Before you put the mini stove away the "stove" stickers will need to be clean and dry for the next cooking session.

Paint Finishes & Wall Stickers, Which Ones Work Best?

The type of finish on your walls DOES make a difference when you use wall stickers in your home decor plan. Here are some tips on how to choose and use paint and texture to get the best results with your favorite vinyl wall sticker from Wall Decor Plus More.

1 - PAINT FINISHES - If you are repainting a wall that you know will be home to a wonderful wall sticker, choose satin or glossy paint for good sticker adhesion. And enamel is even better because it is the least porous of the paint finishes. Flat finish is too porous for wall stickers to adhere to, and zero VOC paint doesn't work well either. 2 - TEXTURE VS SHINE - Shiny paint (satin, gloss, enamel) is a better choice, even if your wall has some texture, than flat paint even on a smooth wall without texture. Our special post about working with texture can be found Yes, Wall Stickers CAN Work on Textured Walls.









3 - DRYING VS CURING - Yes, there is a difference. Your paint may be dry to the touch but that doesn't mean it has cured (hardened all the way through). Curing can take several days or longer, (probably plan on at least 2 weeks) depending on your paint and on the dampness or coolness of the weather. Check your paint can label or contact us on our website http://www.walldecorplusmore.com/contact-us/ and we'll try to help you. The stronger the new paint smell, the longer it will need to cure before you can apply wall stickers. The smell likely comes from the compounds and gases in the paint, the very same ones that can break down the adhesive on the wall stickers so they won't stick well or will fall off after a short time.

Bathroom Rules

4 - MOISTURE & WALL STICKERS - Don't panic, this doesn't mean wall stickers won't work in your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room. Because they will! It's ongoing moisture behind your sheetrock that may cause problems with your wall stickers. Some examples are: walls that back up to cooling systems, water pipes, overhead windows or windows that have been boarded up–these areas are prone to condensation, which may not be obvious when you apply your wall stickers.
